Skateboarding is about creativity, determination, and endurance. Sure, there are tricks that can be mastered quickly – but for some of the more difficult ones, it takes time to learn how to kickflip on a skateboard. Stance and Weight Distribution
The stance that you have is going to have a huge impact when trying to learn how to kickflip on a skateboard. You can try out different stances, but the best one for this trick will generally be the regular skating stance – you should stand with your left foot directly in front of the board, and your right foot on the opposite end. Your weight should be evenly distributed between both feet with a bit more pressure towards the front of the board.
Balance and Push
You will need to have a good amount of balance when trying to learn how to kickflip on a skateboard. You can’t do the trick if you’re not balanced, so it’s important that you practice this before actually attempting the move itself. Try skating forward and backward, as well as side-to-side, and have a friend check that you’re balanced before moving on to the trick.
After that, it’s time to put weight on your front foot. Lean forward until your body is over the board without letting your feet leave the board. This should cause all of your weight to be resting on your toes. It’s important not to have your weight on your heels when attempting to learn how to kickflip on a skateboard.
