Should You Skateboard in the Rain?

Skateboarding should be enjoyed by everyone, rain or shine. But… is skateboarding in the rain okay? There are safety concerns to consider whenever you step on a board, and if it’s wet out there, those risks are increased. The next question is whether or not weather conditions affect your enjoyment of skating. If you can’t enjoy skating just because it’s a little wet outside, is there a point in going out in the rain?

Skating in the rain should only be done under careful conditions. Is it okay for children or teenagers? Not sure about this- maybe rephrase it as “Children and teenagers should not skateboard in dangerous weather conditions. However, as for adults, it is up to the person skating. The choice should be based on whether or not you can enjoy yourself and feel safe at the same time.

We recommend that kids avoid skating in the rain because of the increased risk of accidents. Skating in wet weather can be slippery and dangerous, so it’s important to take caution when out there. If you’re an adult, make sure that you are aware of your surroundings and take all necessary precautions before skating in the rain. Remember safety first!

Some people choose not to skateboard in the rain because they don’t enjoy it as much. The conditions can be a lot harder when it’s wet out, so it may not be as fun to skateboard. If this is the case for you, then we recommend staying indoors. However, if you are confident in your abilities and you enjoy skating in the rain, go ahead and do it! It’s always good to be careful.

Why You Should Never Ride Your Skateboard If It’s Wet Or Raining

1. Your Deck Can Warp And Get Waterlogged

If you ride your skateboard in the rain, the water will quickly seep into the wood and make it swell. This can cause your deck to warp, which will make it difficult to control your board. In addition, a wet deck is more prone to getting waterlogged, which will add extra weight and make it harder to push.

2. You Can Lose Your Grip And Fall

To have a strong grip on the ground, you need to have a good amount of friction between your shoes and the surface. When it rains, there are many slippery surfaces. This can be a major issue for skaters because they will have less friction on their shoes when skating and potentially lose grip with how wet everything is outside.

3. It Can Be More Slippery Than Normal

In addition to preventing accidents, rain can make the ground more slippery. This leads not only do dangerous falls but also makes it difficult as you try and slow down or stop your running from getting going again!

4. You Could Get Electrocuted

If you’re skateboarding in the rain and happen to fall, there’s a good chance you could come into contact with an electrical wire. This is because water will seep into the cracks in the concrete and cause a short circuit. If this happens, you may get electrocuted when coming into contact with the wire.

5. The Wheel Bearings Might Stop Working

Some of your skateboard’s movement is made possible by wheel bearings under the trucks and wheels. When it’s wet outside, the bearings can become corrosion-bitten and stop working properly. This will make it difficult for you to ride your skateboard, and could potentially lead to an accident.

6. You Might Damage Your Board

If you choose to ride your skateboard in the rain, you run the risk of damaging it. The water will quickly wear down the grip tape, which will make it more difficult to control your board. Not to mention that the moisture can seep into the deck and cause problems with the wood.

7. There’s An Increased Risk Of Accidents

When it rains, there is less visibility because of all the water on the windows. This means that you may not be able to see pedestrians and other vehicles on the road, which could lead to an accident. Even if you avoid a collision with another person or vehicle, there is still a risk of colliding with inanimate objects like buildings and trees.
