 How to Learn kickflip?

If you are learning kickflip the first time it seems hard. It takes some time to learn. If you are a regular skateboarder it may take 6 months or a year to learn with practice. When you become a master in it. It becomes your go-to trick.

Here are steps for learning the kickflip

  1. Position of your feet
  2. Ollie
  3. Flipping the board
  4. Seize the skateboard back to the ground
  5. Bend your knee to maintain the balance

1. Position of the feet

The position of the foot is important here. Because it will decide how much faster the skateboard flip? Your front foot should be beyond the bolts making a 45-degree angle at the skateboard. It will help you to flip quickly. Your back foot is on the tail of the board. Don’t bend too much and keep your shoulder in position the same as the skateboard.

2. Ollie

If you know ollie then it’s easy to kickflip. Bend your front knee and your weight will shift to the back foot. By this, the back of the skateboard becomes close to the ground and the nose will raise. This will give the bounce. Do this step fastly this will help you to complete the ollie.

3. Flipping the board

Flipping the board is a difficult part of the kickflip. You should focus while learning it. Move your front foot toward the front heel side of the board while you are in the air. Get your leg out and flip the side of the deck with your toe. As you kick  the skateboard flip up  the nose instead of down. It will give the spin.

Don’t kick your leg downward by this your front foot will lead beneath the board. It will cause a problem in landing. Don’t hit the skateboard hard so that it moves away from you while flipping. Jump high in the air so that your back foot should not touch the board.

4. Seize the skateboard back to the ground

When the skateboard rotation is complete in the air then grasp the board using your back foot and take it to the ground. The front foot will also take its right position. When your skateboard is in rotation you must focus on how your body adapts to the balance on the skateboard? While catching the skateboard back to the ground your feet should be above the bolts on the front and back of the deck

5. Bend your knee to maintain the balance

As your skateboard hit the ground bend your knee to mop up the sudden shock. This will help to maintain the balance.

kickflip is not easier for beginners if you practice it for a long time you can learn it. After learning the kickflip the heelflip will be easier for you.

How to learn heelflip?

Heelflip is an advanced technique in skateboard riding. The skateboard master can perform this trick perfectly as compared to the beginner. If you want to learn this trick you should follow these steps with practice.

  1. Position of your feet on the skateboard
  2. Push the skateboard tail down by backfoot
  3. Lean your front foot toward the edge of the board
  4. Slide the board slantwise by the front foot
  5. Jump up and clip the board edge to spin
  6. Catch the board in the air after the spin

1. Position of your feet on the board

Place your back foot parallel to the tail of the skateboard in such a way that heel of the foot should be drape from the tail of the skateboard. Then put your front foot diagonally in the middle of the board so that the first finger of your foot is hanging off the edge. For goofy footed, the situation is vice versa.

2.  Push the skateboard tail down by the back foot

Bend your knees to distribute the weight to the legs. Look at your front to perform the better heelflip. Push the board down at the tail using your back foot. Bend the knees and be ready for the jump. Bend in such a position that your toes touch the ground it will help you to flip the skateboard. Remember one thing all this process should be done at the same time for better results.

3.  Lean your front foot toward the edge of the board

Turn the ankle of the front leg a little so that the front foot toes lift off the skateboard. Do not lean the foot too much that the balance dismiss. Now start sliding in the direction of the toe. During this, the front of the foot slips off the front corner of the board.

4.  Kick out with your foot to jump upward

When the tail of the skateboard hit the ground and your heel  on the corner you should  jump. When you lift off the skateboard kick your front foot leg in such a direction that you slid so far. During the kick spin your ankle so that the toes of the front foot make the angle upward.

5.  Jump up and clip the board edge to spin

This is a difficult step of the heelflip. In this step, you kick out your front foot and spin your toes upward. By this, the heel of your foot gets a jerk. You need the heelflip to forcefully kick the front edge of the board to complete the spin.

6. Catch the board in the air after the spin

When the board completes the spin, now catch the skateboard in the air and place your feet in the right position. Your feet should be on the bolts.

Heelflip is more challenging then kickflip. It may take more time to learn as compared to the kickflip. But we know the phrase practice makes things perfect. So practice, practice and practice.

What is the difference between kickflip and heelflip?

Kickflip is similar to the heelflip. heel flip is the advanced form of the kickflip. The main difference between them is kickflip rotates inward while the heelflip rotate outward for the skateboard rider.
